Hospital again!

Earlier, I blogged about Janice vomitting and was being admitted to the hospital. The first time was on 1st Sep. Barely 3 weeks later which was on 19th Sep, she vomitted again and was down with high fever. Again, she was admitted.

It wasn't fun as she was put on drip. But being a tough and brave girl, she did not scream or cry one bit when the doctor injected her hand. In fact, she enjoyed staying at the hospital. She told me it was nice to stay at the hospital for long, long time. Omg. She is crazy.

Maybe she had "fun" because all she did was lie down on the bed watching cartoons, writing and colouring on her workbook I brought for her, sticking Hello Kitty stickers that her "koo koo" bought for her all over the places, went to the hospital's indoor playground to play and being treated like a queen while I feed her oats biscuits on her bed and requesting for glucose drinks hundreds of time per day. That's the only food/drinks that she can consume during her stay at the hospital.

The vomitting all started when one of her classmates started to throw up in school. On that same day, 3 other classmates vomitted too, including Janice. Then Janice was the only weak one that has to be sent to the hospital due to multiple vomitting (8 times!) within half a day.

After being discharged, we monitored her food intake for a few days and did not dare to let her simply eat. We thought that she was getting better and started to let her eat porridge and drink milk and there she went again, vomitting whatever that she consumed. Her body has not fully recovered yet and doctor diagnosed it as stomach flu.

After being discharged for the 2nd time, all she ate at home was just mee sua and glucose drinks until after her birthday then only we started giving her milk and porridge because we could not let her celebrate her birthday at the hospital! Her birthday party was planned ahead already. Luckily so far so good and she celebrated her birthday twice, one with family and another one with her friends at school.

She is doing fine now but once in a while she still complains on stomach pain right after she drinks milk. MIL advised us to slowly stop letting her drinking milk if this tummy aches still goes on. But in my humble opinion, I think kids this young still need the calcium intake from milk for stronger bones and teeth. I will continue to let her drink milk until maybe 12 years old or more.

Some of her pix taken while at the hospital.

Day 1 - Poor little Janice

Day 2 - Janice feels fresh and energized now!
