Hospital again!

Earlier, I blogged about Janice vomitting and was being admitted to the hospital. The first time was on 1st Sep. Barely 3 weeks later which was on 19th Sep, she vomitted again and was down with high fever. Again, she was admitted.

It wasn't fun as she was put on drip. But being a tough and brave girl, she did not scream or cry one bit when the doctor injected her hand. In fact, she enjoyed staying at the hospital. She told me it was nice to stay at the hospital for long, long time. Omg. She is crazy.

Maybe she had "fun" because all she did was lie down on the bed watching cartoons, writing and colouring on her workbook I brought for her, sticking Hello Kitty stickers that her "koo koo" bought for her all over the places, went to the hospital's indoor playground to play and being treated like a queen while I feed her oats biscuits on her bed and requesting for glucose drinks hundreds of time per day. That's the only food/drinks that she can consume during her stay at the hospital.

The vomitting all started when one of her classmates started to throw up in school. On that same day, 3 other classmates vomitted too, including Janice. Then Janice was the only weak one that has to be sent to the hospital due to multiple vomitting (8 times!) within half a day.

After being discharged, we monitored her food intake for a few days and did not dare to let her simply eat. We thought that she was getting better and started to let her eat porridge and drink milk and there she went again, vomitting whatever that she consumed. Her body has not fully recovered yet and doctor diagnosed it as stomach flu.

After being discharged for the 2nd time, all she ate at home was just mee sua and glucose drinks until after her birthday then only we started giving her milk and porridge because we could not let her celebrate her birthday at the hospital! Her birthday party was planned ahead already. Luckily so far so good and she celebrated her birthday twice, one with family and another one with her friends at school.

She is doing fine now but once in a while she still complains on stomach pain right after she drinks milk. MIL advised us to slowly stop letting her drinking milk if this tummy aches still goes on. But in my humble opinion, I think kids this young still need the calcium intake from milk for stronger bones and teeth. I will continue to let her drink milk until maybe 12 years old or more.

Some of her pix taken while at the hospital.

Clayton's cute antics

Clayton's vocab and basic understanding have improved a lot. His new words include "nai nai" (grandma) and "nen nen" (milk). Last round, he learnt the M word which was "mam mam" (eat) and "mama" (mother). Now he has moved to the N word.

He can do a lot of cute and funny actions when prompted. Recently, Janice just had her story-telling competition at school and I had been going through the practice with her daily. Clayton always watched while his sis practise until he knows how to blow kisses at the very last step when Janice says "Thank you teacher, I love you." It was so hilarious! By the way, the contest result is not out yet, hopefully Janice can win top 3.

Next funny thing is Clayton knows how to hum his favourite cartoon's opening song - Special Agent Oso. The music goes "Agent Oso!", then he will go "ngg ngg" in the correct tone! I need to record a video next time coz it is uber cute!

Every night right before bedtime, his "nai nai" will soak her feet in a tub of warm water with salt added and pat her arms for about 10 minutes while doing that. She stole this idea from a TV programme. According to her, by doing this, it improves one's blood circulation flow and reduces the risk of heart attack. When Clayton sees his "nai nai" pat her arms, he will follow exactly the same pattern. Gonna take some video on this too.

There was once Janice asked me for biscuits and I told her "One only ha!" and while saying that, I held up my hand signaling number one. Lil' Clayton saw me doing it and followed suit with his tiny index finger pointing at the air. It was so funny and when I tested him again saying "one only ha!" he automatically points up his finger.

Other cute stuff that he does:
-dance and shake his butt when he listens to hot music.
-says "charrrr" when it is raining, when he sees an aircond and when he sees her "nai nai" cooking coz all these 3 things make "charrr" sound.
-when asked "na li tong tong" (where do you feel painful?), he will automatically put his index finger on his forehead no matter where it hurts when he accidentally falls down. Even if he bumped on his butt, he will still point that his head is hurt. Super silly!
-when asked to do "O", he will make his mouth into very small "O" as if he is drinking from a straw.
-when asked "where is your eyes?", he will blink his eyes several times quickly.
-when asked "where is your ears/nose/mouth?", he will simply point. He only knows where his eyes are.
-when asked "you mei you bao bao" (are you feeling full?), he will pat slightly on his tummy.
-knows how to nod his head to say yes or when being offered with food. By the way, he never rejects food!
-knows how to shake his head to say no or when being disturbed. I especially like to kacau him while he is in his bathtub. I like to put a wet handkerchief on his back. As the handkerchief is soaked with water, it feels a bit heavy when put on his back. He will feel uncomfortable and will keep on shaking his head until I remove the wet handkerchief, haha!

So far these are all his "special abilities". Next time when he does anything funny, I will blog again.

Janice & Clayton's brief updates

Long time no update (again), oops! I am getting lazier and lazier each day, I think my blog is dying soon. Ok, so this post is mainly about my 2 naughty kids' progress, pictures mostly captured with my lousy handphone camera.

Janice is all smiles whenever we go kaikai

Lil' Clayton just woke up from his afternoon nap

Cheeky!

Clayton: Mommy's bed is so comfortable!

Janice is busy pretending to be Harry Potter while naughty Clayton is busy climbing up the staircase. He can reach the top without any help. Clever but dangerous.

Janice vomited 8 times within 12 hours (from evening until midnight on Merdeka Day). Whatever she consumed she threw up, including food, water and medicine. Heard from her that 3 of her classmates vomited in school too the day before. Sent her to Hope Children's Hospital in the evening but she continued to vomit throughout the night so we immediately sent her to Adventist at 2 something in the midnight when she threw up for the 8th time.

Feeling better the next day. 2 days at the hospital and the bill was RM1,900! Luckily she is under insurance coverage.

Mama

Ok, I've got to blog about this. 2 days ago, Clayton said "mam mam". I had a feeling that he can say "mama" very soon and yes! He said it yesterday and today several times. When I took Janice for a bath upstairs, Clayton yelled "mama mama" at the bottom of the staircase begging me to carry him up. Cutie pie!

All the while he can say "yeye", "papa" and "jiejie" and finally he had learnt how to call me "mama". I am so happy :))

Clayton's progress

Baby now has 7 teeth and the number 8 tooth can be seen popping out from his lower gum. When given biscuits/prawn crackers, he can chew his food with crackling sound. Once you start feeding, you cannot stop otherwise he will scream! What a greedy little monster.

He started crawling forward a few weeks back and is now learning how to stand and walk. He can stand up by supporting himself on the wall/table/chair all on his own. He even surprised us with his ability to crawl up the staircase a few steps and sit on it without falling, luckily. Now this is scary and dangerous! Once a baby is mobile, never leave him/her unattended.

Just about 2 more weeks and it will be his 1st birthday. We have booked his birthday party venue and ordered his Mickey Mouse birthday cake. Oh by the way, he can say "key" which means "Mickey". When you ask him whether is there any Mickey Mouse on his shirt, he will look at his shirt and pull it to check. So cute.

His vocab until todate is just "key", "papa", "bao bao", "bor bor" and "yeye". No "mama" yet but it's ok. He loves me more than anyone else. Once I carry him, he will not let anybody to carry him already. And he will cry if he sees me go upstairs without him. I am like a magnet to him.

The most cheerful moment of him is when he wakes up early in the morning. He always flashes me with his sweetest smile when he opens his and sees me sleeping by his side.

The naughty side of him is that he dislikes sitting on the carseat for too long. He will whine and complain until you carry him out of it. Sometimes I will show him my angry face and scold him. Then his eyes will turn watery and he will begin to cry. It is amazing that a baby can understand when we are angry. I mean he is just a small little boy. But babies grow up really fast that's why I captured a lot of his photos from newborn till now. I did the same with Janice too. Millions of their photos everywhere.

Ok, this is rather a long post. Gonna stop here.
